Tea Time & Dress Up

Instead of going to class this morning I met my mother and grandmother for breakfast at Adele's in Carson City. I enjoyed cappuccino and biscotti with vegetarian delights while the others had coffee and eggs benedict. Afterwards, we retired to my mom's house where they let me play dress up in some of my mom and grandma's old vintage clothing.

Most of these dresses are too small for me. Maybe someday they'll fit just right. The shoe photos are my mother's legs and feet. They're both size 6, which is too small for me.
My grandma used to have a shop in Incline Village where she sold her art and other crafty things. This vintage boys swim outfit from the early 1900s was on display in her shop.

The little ballet suit once fit me and I fondly remember running around like a little ballerina in it often. Who here remembers Jamiroquai? If you know him, let him know I have a hat for him.
I apologize the photo quality is poor. I only had my iPhone, terrible lighting and my grandma's oxygen cord in the background.

Where The Enemy Sleeps

I woke up today at 6am for an invigorating morning run (really, I'm not pulling your leg) and already had my colorful spring-y outfit picked out in my head for my school day. I took one look outside and was startled to find snow, LOTS of snow. So I went back to sleep for several more hours. I basically lost all ambition for my day. I ended up throwing on some boring ensemble, went to school, came home and did chores for the remainder of the day.

What I'm trying to say is I don't have an outfit post for today. So I've decided to take this opportunity to do one of my favorite things some of my favorite bloggers do. That's give you a tour of their house. I, however, am a struggling college student so a tour of my darling bedroom will have to suffice.
I really enjoy my bedroom because there's a lot of different tastes and character packed into one tiny space.
This is my sewing station complete with antique chair, table and sewing basket.

The lighting in my room is horrendous and therefore forced me to use the flash on my camera to capture this very special charcoal drawing my grandma gave me. I'm sorry for the glare and poor quality.

The real chaos begins here.
Look at my cute little army of lipsticks and Tuff Scent nail polishes.

So many treasures! Silk scarves, gifts of paintings and photographs, live plants, a homemade headdress, a vintage suitcase, books on great artists and my favorite of all favorites - Shepherd's laughing Jesus picture he found at a garage sale. I managed to talk him into giving it to me during a visit.

I wish I could get a better shot of my giant, young Mickey Rooney picture that Sarah sold me for pennies. It's pretty silly and fabulous. Also pictured are some posters I've collected at random. The Dead Kenny G's is from a soggy telephone pole in Portland. The other two were stolen from the walls of Cal Poly during a trip to visit Shepherd.
Also pictured are a couple handfuls of shoes and boots I can't get enough of at the moment.

So that's it. Maybe someday I'll show you my closets.

Spontaneous Excursions

I received a much needed phone call early this morning (if you call 9:30 early for a Saturday at least) from my lovely friend Michelle. She invited me to come along on a mini-venture to take some photographs of our neighboring mountains. I agreed on the condition that we get coffee and she allow me to take pictures of her taking pictures.
Isn't she a gem?

Vegan Leather

February 24 and a high of 64 degrees!
Zero tights and zero cares in the world. Okay, that's a lie.
So many cares.
I apologize for my lack of posts this week.
I've been living in my Acne jeans and t-shirts lately.

Grown Ass Woman

Ugh. My little baby sister is all grown up and going to prom.
Where did the time go? I'm old and achy now.
We set out to find the perfect prom dresses for my sister, Brandi
and our good friend, Crystal.
We managed to find the winners at David's Bridal, our first stop.
Crystal's dress turned out the be the first one she tried.
Look at my gorgeous girls!

Brandi was able to find something loud and funky
just like her. Isn't she prettiest of pretties?

Crystal found her fairytale princess dress.

I couldn't get my tiny mother to hold still long enough to
take a photo. We were human clothing racks and
zipper robots.

I tried to find some photos of me in my prom dress. Turns
out the night wasn't documented too well. Here's what I
came up with.

Sheesh, has it already been five years? The first picture
is with my pal Juliet, the second is with Breanna,
the last is of my date Jason and I slowly
making our way to his car.
As you can see I didn't care for the "traditional" style
prom dress.
I'm just glad I've since learned how to walk in heels.

Recent Steals, Finds & Grabs

For a girl who's supposed to be saving to move to France
in six months, I'm quite the little spendthrift.
I just can't resist a good deal or to fall in love with multiple
items daily. I can't help it, I'm a swooner.
Here are my most recent finds:

You may have already seen some of these new and old
treasures. More lovely looks to come!
